The magic of the Blackpool Illuminations
Experience the Blackpool Christmas lights this year with the spellbinding seafront spectacle cascading along the promenade. With more than a million magical light bulbs you will be mesmerized by this incredible free light show.
Blackpool Illuminations have been a major part of Blackpool’s attraction scene since 1879 with the annual Switch On event in September kicking off the winter festivities. However now you can see them for even longer, as the annual illuminations display is extended by two additional months creating a winter wonder of light and magic. Wrap up warm and marvel at the miles of festoon, larger-than-life tableaux, illuminated trams, instagrammable features, laser technology and stunning projection shows during the festive period.
If you feel like resting your legs simply hop on one of the magical illuminated trams and enjoy a tour of the famous golden mile. With the best seats in the house you can enjoy the world famous Illuminations as you take a full trip from one end of the promenade to the other and then back again.
For added sparkle and festive glamour you might want to try out one of the illuminated trams! The Western Train and HMS Blackpool trams are famous for their Illuminated tours and will add that extra special Christmas magic to your visit.

This year once again The Blackpool Tower will be transformed into an iconic sea of light and sound with a festive programme of Blackpool Christmas light projections.
These breath-taking projection shows are designed to catapult you into another world from festive sci-fi stories to enchanting Frost Fairies projected nightly onto The Blackpool Tower, Down the Rabbit Hole which tells the story of an astronaut exploring new worlds and Enchanted, a flurry of cute characters and lavish backdrops based around a woman who has wandered into this magical world from under the sea to the opulent Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

Take a break from the chill of the outdoors and step into the sensational Blackpool Tower Ballroom where you can relax and gaze at the spectacular dancing and treat yourself to a deliciously festive Afternoon Tea.
