Hugh Bonneville & Paddington Pack Their Suitcases for Blackpool

Fresh from his big-screen success in the Paddington Movie, celebrated British actor Hugh Bonneville has arrived by the seaside at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.

The wax figure of Hugh Bonneville, who played the hapless but well-intentioned character Mr. Henry Brown in the cinematic remake of the book, arrived in Blackpool via train along with the famous Peruvian Bear without a trademark mishap.

To mark his arrival, Blackpool North train station was transformed and renamed as Paddington Station for the day as the famous duo posed on the platform with suitcases and bucket hat in tow.

The actor’s figure will feature within the Best of British section in the attraction on a Paddington themed set. It sees the character dressed in a smart pinstriped suit, recreating the classic formal attire of Mr. Brown.

Hugh Bonneville cemented his place as a national treasure for his role as Lord Grantham in the multi-award-winning period drama, Downton Abbey. His recent performance in the Paddington Movie, however, saw the actor swap palatial grounds for marmalade sandwiches.

Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool said: “It isn’t quite as far as Peru, but we’re delighted to welcome the wax figure of Hugh Bonneville to the attraction here in Blackpool. We’re expecting his figure to be extremely popular as he appeals to children and parents alike thanks to his brilliant performances on screen.

“Changing the name of Blackpool North station was a brilliant way to welcome the figure to town – there were a few worried faces as the trains pulled in to “Paddington” station.”
