Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is a world-famous attraction boasting multi-talented wax displays of individuals who make global waves in their craft. Multimedia superstar Anne Curtis joins this lineup, becoming the newest Filipino to be displayed at Madame Tussauds’ star-studded halls. At the highly anneticipated unveiling event in Makati City last November 27, 2024, she proved how she perfectly carried the attributes fit for this global tourist destination.
Anne is a renowned actress recognised for her well-decorated 25 years of experience in show business. Her iconic movies and TV series include No Other Woman, BuyBust, Dyosa, Dyesebel, ’Wag Kang Lilingon, and Sid & Aya: A Love Story. Some of these are acknowledged by the country’s biggest award-giving bodies, FAMAS Awards and Gawad Urian Awards. She is also well known as one of the hosts of It’s Showtime, ABS-CBN’s longest-running variety show. She, too, is a fashion icon and is esteemed as one of the country’s “It Girls”. On top of it all, she extends her influence outside acting and hosting as an entrepreneur and Celebrity Advocate for Children at UNICEF Philippines.
The actress shared, “This was a dream come true for me! It’s about time that Filipinos were able to introduce themselves worldwide across different fields. I’m thankful that Madame Tussauds Hong Kong chose me to show that Pinoy talent is world-class.”
All her star qualities were beautifully captured in her wax likeness, posed as if she were ready to host and conquer the stage as she held a microphone. She was dressed in an elegant cream-coloured Dior gown donated by the actress, making her twin statue radiate the same sophistication she possessed. “We wanted something that would be timeless and true to who I am. This was also the first look that I had when I had just stepped back into the fashion industry,” said Anne. “The microphone also became such a powerful tool for me in my 27 years in the industry—hosting, speaking about my advocacies, and even doing concerts! I’m happy it became a part of my wax figure to inspire people to pursue their dreams.”
With Hong Kong being one of the Filipinos’ top destinations, Madame Tussauds makes sure that every visit is thrilling and unforgettable. By featuring Anne, along with other Filipino names, the attraction aims to create a must-visit spot that resonates well with Pinoy tourists. They promise an experience where everyone can celebrate “Pinoy Pride” while enjoying an engaging and interactive space in the heart of Hong Kong’s vibrant metropolis.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s Head of Sales and Marketing, BoBo Yu, also showed her excitement, “It was so great to work with Anne throughout the entire process of creating this. We’re very proud to have her as the first-ever Filpino actress and host in our attraction. We’re looking forward to the interactions her fans will have with the wax figure.” True enough, some lucky fans were invited to experience Anne’s twin for the first time at the exclusive event. Among the guests in attendance were also Anne’s mom Carmen Curtis-Smith and sister and actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith. Industry peers such as ABS-CBN CEO Carlo Katigbak and Chairman Mark Lopez, Filipino filmmaker Jason Paul Laxamana, and Director Irene Villamor showed their support as well. Content creators and Anne’s personal friends like Tim Yap, Liz Uy, and Nicole Andersson also joined her in this special event.
Anne’s twin will be available for viewing at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong starting December 9, 2024. She also made history as the first-ever Filipino actress and host to be displayed at the Hong Kong Glamour Zone, alongside Hollywood A-listers Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Lady Gaga, Chris Hemsworth, and more. More Filipino icons are there including Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, and People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao.
