Awkwafina is Nora From Queens... and Now a Wax Figure! 🌐

Hey, New Yorkers and pop culture fanatics! 🌟 Grab your cameras because something *super* exciting just went down in Queens. Our very own Nora Lum—aka the sensational Awkwafina—had a jaw-dropping encounter with not one, but TWO wax figures of herself! And where did this epic meet-and-greet happen? Right in her own backyard at the iconic Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, with the stunning Unisphere as the backdrop. How cool is that?

Awkwafina, who’s been lighting up our screens with her irresistible charm and incredible talent, recently got a taste of immortality in the form of these life-size wax figures. From her breakout role in "Crazy Rich Asians" to her Golden Globe-winning performance in "The Farewell," and of course, her hit Comedy Central show "Nora From Queens," Awkwafina has been everywhere and doing everything. And now, her larger-than-life presence is captured perfectly in wax!

These figures are no ordinary waxworks. One is set to dazzle crowds at the Madame Tussauds New York location in her hometown, dressed to impress in an elegant blue gown, silver heels, and those signature ‘NY’ wrist tattoos. It’s a look straight out of the 2021 Emmys, where she wowed everyone in a Monique Lhuillier gown.

Awkwafina couldn’t have been more thrilled. “The ability for this to happen to me is just really cool, to be, as you guys say, immortalized in wax. One is going to be living in the New York City location…so to know that I’m going to be in my hometown is a huge honor,” she shared with a big smile.

Creating these masterpieces was no small feat. A team of 20 talented artists from London poured their heart and soul into crafting these figures, taking around nine months to get every detail just right. From her hair color and eye color to her exact measurements and skin tone, nothing was overlooked. The result? Two spot-on depictions of our favorite star, thanks to collaboration between Madame Tussauds’ creative team and Awkwafina’s own makeup and hairstyling crew.
