Madame Tussauds Sydney invites you, your friends and family to join us in making history as we take on a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title as the largest gathering of people dressed as Marilyn Monroe on Friday 26th August.
The immortalised film-star, Marilyn Monroe, is the epitome of a Hollywood glamour - a perfect illustration of Madame Tussauds bringing guests impossibly close to untouchable stars!
On the morning of 26th August - the anniversary of Norma Jeane Mortenson embarking on a film career with 20th Century Fox, thus becoming the world’s most stylish icon - we will host a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ event as largest gathering of people dressed as Marilyn Monroe, with our wax figure centre stage on a blowing fan, outside the entrance to Madame Tussauds Sydney, in front of live cameras.
All participants dressed as Marilyn Monroe will receive FREE entry into the attraction following the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ media event - Register below to participate! See here for the FAQ's and scroll for more information on the event.
EVENT DETAILS
Who: You, your friends and family - Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun!
What: Dress up as Marilyn Monroe from head to toe - Click here to see how to dress and meet the criteria for the day.
When: 7:00am-9:00am on Friday 26th August 2022.
Where: Madame Tussauds Sydney entrance (1-5 Wheat Road, Darling Harbour, Sydney, NSW, 2000).

Madame Tussauds Sydney will be hosting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title attempt as the largest gathering of people dressed as Marilyn Monroe, with our wax figure centre stage on a blowing fan, outside the entrance to Madame Tussauds Sydney, in front of live cameras.
As this is an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title attempt, you will need to be fully dressed as Marilyn Monroe from head to toe! Your costume, hair, make up and shoes must be accurately based on one of the below iconic outfits worn by Marilyn Monroe:
1. Seven Year Itch - 1955
- A blonde wig or if you have blonde coloured hair style it up to resemble Marilyn Monroe
- A white dress
- A pair of white heels
- Make-up resembling Marilyn Monroe’s facial look - a beauty spot (on the lower left cheek) and red lipstick
2. Photoshoot with Alfred Eisenstaedt -1953
- A blonde wig or if you have blonde coloured hair style it up to resemble Marilyn Monroe
- A black turtle neck long sleeve top
- A pair of white pants
- Make-up resembling Marilyn Monroe’s facial look - a beauty spot (on the lower left cheek) and subtle neutral red lipstick
3. The Misfits - 1961
- A blonde wig or if you have blonde coloured hair style it up to resemble Marilyn Monroe
- A white button up shirt
- Blue jeans with a brown belt
- A pair of brown boots
- A denim jacket to throw over
- Make-up resembling Marilyn Monroe’s facial look - a beauty spot (on the lower left cheek) and subtle neutral lipstick
4. Niagara – 1953
- A blonde wig or if you have blonde coloured hair style it up to resemble Marilyn Monroe
- A red dress
- A pair of black heels

5. White Robe Sitting - 1955
- A blonde wig or if you have blonde coloured hair style it up to resemble Marilyn Monroe

Please arrive at the Madame Tussauds Sydney entrance by 7:00am sharp. You will then register your attendance and participation on the day and have your costume checked to qualify your hair, make up, costume and shoes.
At 8:00am, there will be cameras, to record, take pictures and capture content for media of the hundreds and hundreds of people gathered together all dressed up as Marilyn Monroe.
From 8:15am, everyone that has successfully registered and participated will then be given exclusive early access to the Madame Tussauds Sydney attraction.
To qualify for free entry on the day you need to meet the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ requirements of being fully dressed as Marilyn Monroe! To see the criteria that you need to meet to receive free entry click here.
Free entry is from 9:00am immediately after the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ event, where Madame Tussauds Sydney will be opening early for participants successfully dressed as Marilyn Monroe to have access 1 hour before we open to the general public.
We will be gathering at the entrance of Madame Tussauds Sydney along Darling Harbour. Please enter at the 'ENTRY' sign once you have registered your attendance.
You'll have to source your own outfit - We recommend checking your closet first to see if you have any of the dress up criteria at home! Otherwise you can visit your local dollar stores, costume shops, or visit the following links to shop online:
