• As one of the world's most influential socialist thinkers, Karl Marx spent his life writing about philosophy, politics, economics, history, and the class struggle. After his death, his ideas became enormously important and played a vital role in the development of modern communism and socialism.
• Marx developed a theory of history that called the victory of the working class inevitable. Together with Friedrich Engels he published the Communist Party's manifesto in 1848, the famous introduction to which read: "The history of all societies up to now is the history of class struggles".
• Marx was very fond of beer. During his exile in London, he visited numerous bars in the city, including one called "The Dog and Duck" in Bloomsbury.
