Madame Tussauds unveils wax figure of popular DreamWorks Animation hero Shrek
Amsterdam, March 26, 2024 - Madame Tussauds Amsterdam is proud to unveil the wax figure of beloved DreamWorks Animation icon Shrek. The figure pays tribute to the internationally beloved character, who has captivated and inspired many generations with his irreverent humor and unique outlook on life. Fiona, Shrek's wife, was previously added to Madame Tussauds Amsterdam collection. Shrek visited the attraction briefly in 2015, but their loving reunion was only temporary. Now, the lovable ogre can be admired by young and old at Madame Tussauds Amsterdam.
The official unveiling of the wax figure of Shrek took place on March 26. During his previous appearance in Amsterdam, Shrek found his way to his significant other with a large bouquet of red roses in his hand as Fiona stood on the lookout. After a loving reunion, he finally joined Fiona and Gingy, in the attraction's swamp.
The wax figure of Shrek shows a great resemblance to the cultural icon from the beloved franchise. With his characteristic ears, broad smile, distinctive ‘ogre-green’ skin and large stature that belies his soft nature, he steals the show. His figure will join Fiona and Gingy in the film department of Madame Tussauds Amsterdam.
"It is with great enthusiasm and pride that we introduce the newest member of our wax family: Shrek! Madame Tussauds Amsterdam is delighted to welcome this iconic figure to our unique and diverse collection," said Quinten Luykx, General Manager Madame Tussauds Amsterdam. "This launch not only marks a reunion of the enchanting duo of Shrek and Fiona but offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the magical world of Shrek. We invite everyone to stop by for a truly Shrek-tastic experience at Madame Tussauds Amsterdam!"
Shrek will be on permanent display at Madame Tussauds Amsterdam from March 26, giving fans from around the world the chance to admire the iconic animation icon in his famous swamp.
