We would love to tell you more about the world of Marvel Avengers. It is good to know that Marvel goes beyond films and TV series. The whole concept behind Marvel comes from comic books that have been very popular in the United States for decades. Based on questions and main characters, we will let you take a peek into the Marvel Avengers world.

Frequently Asked Questions about Marvel Avengers

The Marvel Avengers are a team of costumed crimefighters whose goal is to safeguard the world from any danger that outpaces the ability of human peacekeeping forces. The Avengers was the first team to receive total government sanctions by the U.S National Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly, and eventually by the U.N-sanctioned international agency called the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.)

The Avengers initiative was all thanks to S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury. He pitched it to Tony Stark and Steve Rogers following Phil Coulson’s death, Stark’s defeat of Obadiah Stane, and the revelation that he was the Iron Man. In the comics, the Avengers make their first appearance in Avengers (1963) #1. In movies, they band together in the first Avenger movie of 2012.

So how many Avengers are there? Before we answer this question, you must remember that not all members present in the comics have appeared in the film and T.V. show adaptations. Also, note that some are honorary members who typically join for a short period to help fight particular battles. Again, due to the dissolution of Avengers throughout history, some join to fill gaps.

There are at least 100 Avengers in the comics and the entire Marvel universe to answer your question. However, only about six are present at a time.

Initially, Nick Fury wanted to call the Avengers the Protectors Initiative. The original Avengers team comprised of:

  • Iron Man (Inventor)—Tony Stark
  • Hawkeye (Marksman, Archer)—Clinton Barton
  • Thor Odinson (Asgardian God of Thunder)
  • Captain America (First Avenger)—Steven Grant Rogers
  • Immortal Hulk (Theoretical Physicist)—Bruce Banner
  • Black Widow (Russian Spy & Assassin) a.k.a Natasha Romanoff

Several Marvel characters die in Infinity War. As for the Avengers members, Vision the sentient droid, the Winter Soldier, Falcon, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, and Nick Fury all die in the Avengers Infinity War movie.

Currently, four Avengers films exist.

  • The Avengers
  • Age of Ultron
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Avengers: Endgame

Most of the Avengers costumes are made in India. The costume designers may differ for each film. For instance, Judianna Makovsky designed the costumes in Captain America, while Michael Crow designed those worn in the Falcon and Winter Soldier.

Every Marvel fan has a preference on how to binge the Avenger movies. Not to be confused with the total Marvel movies, the Avengers movies are only 4, whereas the entire MCU has 27 films. We recommend watching them in order of their release.

  • The Avengers- 2012
  • Age of Ultron- 2015
  • Infinity War- 2018
  • Endgame-2019
