Freek Vonk is one of the most adventurous personalities in the Netherlands. He began his career as a biologist and soon made a name for himself with his research into exotic animals and their behaviour. Today he is a familiar face on television, where he presents programmes about the wonderful world of animals with his infectious enthusiasm.

- Freek was bitten by a Caribbean reef shark while filming his TV programme in 2014. The scars of his adventure can be seen on his sculpture.
- Freek discovered a new species of anaconda in the northern Amazon! Together with 14 scientists, he identified this almost seven metre long snake, the Northern Green Anaconda.
- In addition to his television career, Freek was appointed special professor at Leiden University, where he researches the venom of snakes, spiders and scorpions.
