Step Into Christmas: Madame Tussauds London Unveils Legendary New Elton John Figure

  • Friday 20th December 2024

Madame Tussauds London Launches Elton John in Piano Jump Pose

Elton John is stepping into Madame Tussauds London for the festive season as our attraction has just unveiled the living legend’s brand new, first-of-its-kind figure today.

Hot on the heels of the release of the critically acclaimed Disney+ documentary Elton John: Never Too Late, celebrating the megastar’s incredible 50-year career, our newly unveiled figure takes us all back to where it all started, the 1970s. In our most structurally ambitious creation to date, the new figure achieves the gravity-defying feat of suspending mid-air in the legend’s signature keyboard handstand move from the era.

Madame Tussauds London Launches Elton John 11

Elton John has worked collaboratively with our artists since his sitting in 1976 for his first figure. It made history as the world’s first talking and smiling Madame Tussauds figure, including voice recordings by Elton himself. Honouring his legendary status and magnetic personality, Elton John’s brand-new figure, unveiled today, continues this history-making legacy as one of the most complex structural designs integrated into a Madame Tussauds London figure to date.

Celebrating Elton John’s out-of-this-world stage presence, this brand-new showstopping figure is styled from Elton’s legendary 1975 Midsummer Music one-day festival at Wembley Stadium. Elton gave the Madame Tussauds London team access to the original bejewelled Bob Mackie jumpsuit worn for the performance, which they have expertly recreated for the figure. The look is accompanied by the Rocket Man’s signature flamboyant glasses and platform shoes. The attraction worked with Yamaha to create a bespoke baby grand piano – covered in 24,000 rhinestones – to complete the gravity-defying spectacle.

Steve Blackburn, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London, said: “Elton John is a true living legend and a dazzling personality to behold, so we knew we had to go above and beyond for this figure. Capturing Elton’s phenomenal stage presence – and that iconic keyboard handstand – in figure form is quite the challenge, and the result is one of our most technically ambitious figures to date.

“It feels fitting to unveil this one-of-a-kind figure for the festive season and showcase the expert craftsmanship that’s gone in to deliver a pose that we have never done before! Elton is a star deserving of the grandest spotlight, and we’ve made sure that his figure captures the attention of everyone in the room – much like the icon himself.”

Fans will be able to celebrate the Christmas season and see the new, gravity-defying figure at Madame Tussauds London from Friday 20th December 2024 in the Impossible Festival zone. Boasting a legendary line up of music icons throughout the ages, Elton’s showstopping figure will join fellow headliners from eras across his incredible career, like Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Amy Winehouse, Freddie Mercury and David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust.
