- (John George) Paul Fischer (1786–1875) was a German painter. He moved to England in 1810, where his Hanoverian connection enabled him to obtain work as a miniature painter for the royal family.
- This portrait of Marie Tussaud depicts her at age 84, sitting in the entrance of the exhibition collecting admittance fees. The figures of the French Royal Family Arc can be recognised behind her. These figure remain in the exhibition to this day.
- Madame Tussaud’s presence in the entrance hall was not uncommon: an account in Charles Dickens’ All Year Round recalls how even in her old age she would often supervise the box office, ‘receiving the shillings that poured into her exchequer’.
