Yip Pin Xiu is a Singaporean five-time Paralympic gold champion who made her debut at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. She has consistently set world records in the 50m backstroke S2 and 100m backstroke S2.
Yip was diagnosed at aged two years old with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease which causes progressive weakening of her muscles. It was at the age of 5 when she started swimming and quickly discovered her talent for the sport and began competing internationally.
Yip’s dedication, talent, and positive spirit has made her a respected figure in the world of sports. She is also a strong advocate for people with disabilities.
